What is hypnosis?
Hypnosis is a natural way to achieve powerful changes, quickly and effortlessly. Working with a qualified hypnotherapist will allow you to access states of learning and mental acuity that can help you shift your awareness of who you are, what you do, and remove limiting behaviors. Hypnosis can help you improve your performance, whether you wish to overcome phobias, anxiety, pain, smoking, eating disorders, or if you would like to improve sports performance or business acumen. Hypnosis can alleviate negative traits as well as amplify your talents and hidden abilities.
How does hypnosis work?
Our minds work on two levels, the conscious and the unconscious. We make decisions, think, and act with our conscious mind. The unconscious mind controls our habits. In the relaxed state, known as hypnosis, we can communicate directly with the unconscious mind. This is why it is so quick and easy to change habits of a lifetime with hypnosis.
Is Hypnosis safe?
A: Hypnosis is very safe. When working with a qualified hypnotist, such as Dr. Newell, a hypnosis session feels like a very focused daydream. Usually you will feel relaxed when doing hypnosis. Hypnosis is and of itself is a very pleasant experience. It is a time to let go of the other thoughts of the day and to focus on the issues on which you wish to work. Hypnosis is one of the only therapeutic methods available that enables rapid success and where there are no risks or side effects.

Movies and television have popularized this myth, however, in a clinical session used for therapeutic purposes, you are always in control of your own mind, your thoughts, and your experience. Your consent is critical to the success of any hypnosis session.
Can a person be made to perform any immoral or criminal act in hypnosis?
If you do not give your consent to a practice, you cannot be made to do anything beyond your control. Hypnosis is a completely voluntary act wherein you always remain aware. You’re always aware and able to hear, to talk, and to make decisions. At any time during the session you even have the ability to get up and leave if you desire.
Will I tell all of my secrets in hypnosis?
Contrary to Hollywood mythology, hypnosis will not cause you to tell all of your secrets. You will always be aware of what you are saying, who you are, and what you want. You can tell Dr. Newell anything you feel is relevant to your situation at hand, but it is not necessary. Hypnosis does not require that you tell anything to your hypnotherapist, it only requires consent and a desire to change.
